PRP Treatment

Updated: Aug 20, 2024

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a treatment method that uses a person's own blood and is widely applied in various medical fields today.

In this treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn from the individual, processed briefly through a special procedure to separate the plasma from the blood, and then enriched with platelets. Platelets, which are cells responsible for blood clotting and play a crucial role in wound healing with their growth factors, are found in high concentration in this separated plasma. When injected into the damaged area of the body, the platelet cells initiate the healing process. The growth factors released by the platelets stimulate collagen production and enhance gene and protein expression in tendon stem cells, promoting tissue repair. These growth factors also accelerate blood flow and help cartilage become firmer and more flexible.

PRP application is used in many medical fields and aesthetic treatments today. It is applied for preventive and restorative purposes in conditions such as non-healing leg wounds due to diabetes and varicose veins, tendon injuries and tendinitis like tennis elbow, accelerating wound healing after dental implants, anti-aging treatments for wrinkles, and many other areas.

PRP is a completely natural method. The plasma obtained from the person’s own blood is injected back into their body, meaning no foreign substances or medications are introduced. However, it is important to note that PRP is a medical treatment and should be administered by a specialist doctor under sterile conditions.

The Intrafarma PRP Kits produced in Turkey are prepared in accordance with Medical Device Authority regulations. These kits, which are practical in use and application, provide convenience for both doctors and patients. They allow for the desired platelet concentration and can be used safely and effectively in various medical and treatment fields. Additionally, the quick preparation process offers a time advantage for both physicians and patients.

Recently, Mesenchymal Stem Cell therapy has also become a commonly discussed and used treatment method in the medical field. Mesenchymal Stem Cell therapy can be confused with PRP application. While the application procedures may be similar, the two methods are quite different. In Mesenchymal Stem Cell applications, stem cells are typically obtained from fat tissue taken from the abdominal area, processed, and then injected into the damaged area. PRP, on the other hand, is not a stem cell; it involves injecting platelets obtained from the person’s blood into the damaged area.

Both applications are used in many treatment methods. You can consult your doctor to learn which treatment method is most suitable for you.
